Dr. Nikolaos B. Georgopoulos is the Head of Tourism Studies Department of the University of Piraeus and Deputy Director of Master in Business Administration Programme. He is Professor in Strategic Management and Information Systems at the Department of Business Administration, and Scientific Director of the Careers Office of the University. He has served as the Rector of the University of Piraeus, Vice-Rector of Financial Planning & Development and Head of Business Administration Department.

Prof. Georgopoulos holds the bachelor degree with excellent from the Graduate School of Industrial Studies of Thessaloniki, Greece; the Master in Business Administration (MBA) degree from Birmingham University, UK; and the Master of Science (MSc) in Analysis, Design and Management of Information Systems from the London School of Economics (LSE), University of London, UK. He received his Doctorate in Strategic Information Systems from the Department of Business Administration of the University of Macedonia, Greece.

He teaches several courses (Business Policy and Strategy, Management Information Systems, Electronic Commerce, Planning & Design of Electronic Commerce, e-Tourism and m-Tourism in an International Environment) in the undergraduate and postgraduate programs of the University of Piraeus. He has supervised over 200 postgraduate dissertations Furthermore he has supervised five Ph.D. students who have successfully completed their respective Ph.Ds. and he is currently supervising two Ph.D. students. He has published a number of scientific papers in international journals, books and conferences. A number of these papers have been cited by many researchers. His research interest focuses on strategic management, knowledge management, management information systems, as well as on e-business and m-business.
