Dr. Georgios A. Papanastasopoulos is Professor in Accounting at the Department of Business Administration of the University of Piraeus, where he teaches both at the undergraduate and the postgraduate level. He is also Director of the MSc in Accounting and Control of Business and Public Sector. Further, he is teaching as a Visiting Professor courses in Accounting, at the Department of Tourism Studies of the University of Piraeus, at the Department of Industrial Management of the University of Piraeus and at the Hellenic Open University (MBA program).

He serves as non executive member of the Board of Directors of AlphaLife and as president of the Audit Committee of AlphaLife. He also serves as a member of the Accounting Standards Board (SLOT) of the Hellenic Accounting and Auditing Standards Oversight Board (HAASOB) and a member of the Quality Control Committee (EPE) of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants (SOEL).

He has a ptyhion from the Department of Industrial Management of the University of Piraeus. He holds an M.Sc and a Ph.D from the Department of Banking and Financial Management of the University of Piraeus.

His research interests are focused on capital markets-based accounting. His work has been published at various academic journals (Accounting Forum, Applied Economics, Economics Letters, Economic and Business Letters, European Accounting Review, European Financial Management, Finance Research Letters, International Accounting, Auditing and Taxation, International Journal of Finance and Economics, International Review of Financial Analysis, Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Economic Asymmetries, Journal of Economic Studies, Journal of International Financial Markets Institutions & Money, International Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Performance Evaluation, Investment Management and Financial Innovations, Mathematical and Computer Modelling, North American Journal of Economics and Finance, Review of Accounting and Finance, The British Accounting Review, The European Journal of Finance, The International Journal of Accounting, The Theoretical Economic Letters) and presented at international conferences. He is also Senior Research Fellow at the International Centre for Economic Analysis (ICEA) and referee at academic journals and research programs.
