Professor Athanasios Kouremenos is Professor of Marketing in the Department of Business Administration, University of Piraeus, interim Chairman of the Department of Tourist Studies and Director of the MBA in Tourism program. He holds a B.Sc. in Economics from Athens University and a Ph.D. in Marketing, from the University of Strathclyde, U.K. He has published scholarly works in international journals, including International Journal of Research in Marketing, Industrial Marketing Management and European Journal of Marketing. His main research and professional interests are in the areas of Marketing Research, Data Analysis and Quantitative Methods in Marketing, Tourism Marketing, Retailing and Marketing Information Systems. He has extensive consulting experience with major Greek and International corporations, including the National Bank of Greece, the Greek Telecommunications Organization, Toyota Hellas, Pepsi Cola Hellas, Legrand and others. He was in charge of Marketing Research and Strategic Marketing for large scale projects or the establishment of institutional innovations, including the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank (sponsored by the European Investment Bank), the feasibility of Olympic Youth Festival for the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, and Bekasi 2000, a private satellite city in Jakarta Indonesia. He has also been in charge of specialized projects in the tourism area, such as the determination of the saturation levels and consequent marketing strategy for the Greek island of Crete, the strategic repositioning of the Greek island of Kos, and the development of religious tourism in Greece.
