Ο Ιωάννης Σώρρος είναι Καθηγητής στο Τμήμα Οργάνωσης & Διοίκησης της Σχολής Οικονομικών, Επιχειρηματικών και Διεθνών Σπουδών του Πανεπιστημίου Πειραιώς. Είναι κάτοχος Διδακτορικού Διπλώματος του Πανεπιστημίου Πειραιώς και πτυχίου Διοίκησης Επιχειρήσεων του Οικονομικού Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών (πρώην ΑΣΟΕΕ) και έχει μακράν επαγγελματική και εκπαιδευτική εμπειρία. Στο χώρο των επιχειρήσεων έχει δραστηριοποιηθεί για περισσότερα από 30 έτη σε διάφορους κλάδους της οικονομίας του Ιδιωτικού και του ευρύτερου Δημόσιου Τομέα από διάφορες θέσεις, ως υπάλληλος, Διευθυντικό Στέλεχος και Σύμβουλος Διοίκησης.

Έχει διδάξει στο Οικονομικό Πανεπιστήμιο Αθηνών, στο Πανεπιστήμιο Πατρών, στο Πανεπιστήμιο Αιγαίου, στο Ανοικτό Πανεπιστήμιο και στο Πανεπιστήμιο Πειραιώς καθώς επίσης και σε σημαντικούς φορείς εκπαίδευσης όπως το Ινστιτούτο Εκπαίδευσης του Σώματος Ορκωτών Ελεγκτών Λογιστών κ.α.

Έχει πραγματοποιήσει σειρά οικονομικών μελετών και έχει συγγράψει μόνος και με άλλους, βιβλία και επιστημονικά άρθρα δημοσιευμένα σε επιστημονικά και επαγγελματικά περιοδικά.

Τέλος συμμετέχει σε εθνικά και διεθνή επιστημονικά συνέδρια και σε επιτροπές του Υπουργείου Οικονομικών και του Οικονομικού Επιμελητηρίου σε θέματα λογιστικής και φορολογίας.
